Madcap and zany fun hour. Unlike anything else at the Fringe, and thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining. Loved the games which formed part of the quiz :-) Brilliant - just a shame it was only on for one night.

Great show; an hour isn't long enough! Blueswater is a Edinburgh based band full of talent. The performance certainly earns its 5 star rating. Their salute to the Titans of Blues is awesome with their arrangements of classic hits. Their enthusiasm is infectious with audiences rocking in their seats. Buy the album and enjoy more original music from them.

Jeff Achtem is a funny guy. From the moment he appears on stage with a face as expressionful as Rowan Atkinson's he had the audience hooked. His puppets are amazing, charming, endearing, his special effects are bonkers, the audience participation is hilarious, and his show makes the whole world just that little bit nicer to be in. Loved it.

A lovely mix of great music, dance and dressing up - lots of family fun to be had. Olé!

This was a great event. The talk gave a really interesting insight into their books and how they came up with their ideas, and Chris Riddel did live illustrations throughout which really complimented the talk and provided quite a few laughs! It ended with a live reading of their latest book leaving you wanting more.

Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? Well received on its final night and remaining true to Shakespeare, this free, amateur show proved every bit as good as its professional counterparts. The chemistry between Romeo and Juliet seemed far more convincing than I have seen in many other performances. Stand out individual performances come from the character of Mercutio, whom was given boundless energy and charisma, the Friar proving quirky and a lovable oaf, whilst Benvolio acted as an exceptional foil to Mercutio's egotistical jaunts in the room. Other supporting characters lent intrigue and comic relief to the show whilst certainly not detracting. My only criticism would be that the acoustics of the room did not aid the performance, with echoes and difficult lighting conditions were a concern, however it did not detract from the overall quality of the performance. I really enjoyed this show and do hope this group come and do something again soon! (4/5)

Two very funny young men. Pretty silly songs, but they present them with charm and enthusiasm. The show whizzed by. I wish it could've been longer!

Great conceit – give the Ugly Sisters their voice. Loud and wild perfect end to a Fringe evening.

A great kids show. I can highly recommend going to see this. Extremely well told and the interesting layout of the performance area makes the kids feel completely involved in the action.

These folk are so talented, so good at what they do, and so very, very funny. A brilliant night out.

I went to see A Tapestry Of Many Threads last night as I am a huge Alexander McCall Smith fan and I wasn't disappointed. The performances were fantastic from both Beth Mackay and Andrew McTaggart and the beautiful setting of Dovecot Studios made the evening complete. Highly recommended

I went to see .H.G. at the gallery of modern art on the 14th of may run by tricksterp. I would base it on an eight and up age group because it might be scary for little ones.When you go in you take your shoes off and get given a torch and a head set which gives you directions through nine rooms. The head set makes it sound like the characters are all around you.There are stones in every room to represent the bread crumbs. There is a woodland room with a maze of trees for the forest and of course the ginger bread house with loads of bones inside made into pictures of children unlucky enough to come across the wicked witch. It is just like the normal story but one nice twist, there is a crime scene at the end for the wicked witch.You come out and put your shoes back on. When I went to put my shoes on there was a shiny stone in my shoe. It was a great play. Reviewed by Kirsty Brown

I see quite a lot of theatre with my family, but this is the best I've ever seen. They are in a league of their own, the live music was amazing, the acting was wonderful: it was the most intense show I've ever seen!. Please, please, bring them back to Imaginate next year!

My 6 month old daughter was captivated by this show. Activities will usually only keep her interest for 15-20 mins but she happily sat and watched for the whole performance of 30mins+. I highly recommend this show.

we were captivated by this tender tale of a budding friendship between two lonely souls in adjoining plots at an allotment. Beautifully staged with lovely original music and two excellent performances from the cast made this a very enjoyable hour. My 4 year old sat spellbound throughout.

My 5 year old son didn't stop laughing throughout this show. My 8 year old daughter was in similar stiches. And my husband and I also found it very entertaining. The 3 actors were very good foils for each other, and very slick.

I thought it was freaky,intriguing and it scared the living daylights out of you. I recommend it because you felt you lived the story. But NEVER GO IN ALONE! [Rocky Williams aged 9 and 3/4 ]

All my family really enjoyed this show (kids 10, 8 & 6). A real laugh

A beautifully calm and enthralling show, perfectly pitched for babies. My seven-month-old was completely absorbed. The performance reflects babies' favourite pastimes - playing peekaboo or row-the-boat, waving shakers or snuggling under blankets - but magnifies them and turns them into dance, soothing music and movement. It's a show that engages with the babies at their own level, reflecting their own movements and echoing their coos and gurgles, reassuring them of their own expressive importance: they are small, but they are worth watching and copying. Simple but completely effective and in a beautifully soothing, gentle environment.

We loved it. All the babies were captivated and engaged. So refreshing to do something calm and gentle with my 11 month old, a welcome break from the usual circus of overstimulating baby events. Very simple but perfectly executed.

"Delight is the name of the game in this gentle and beautiful performance" said the blurb. Part of the Bank of Scotland's Imaginate Festival, this performance of dance, movement and sound by Sally Chance Dance, is specifically aimed at babies aged between 4 and 18 months. We'd never tried the venue before - indeed, Madeleine had never experienced any performance art at all. We like to get out and about. Why not, we thought. The £8 was burning a hole in our pocket. We phoned the ticket hotline and off we went. Lets get the easy bit out of the way first. The performance space at North Edinburgh Arts Centre is great - bright, modern and airy - the Cafe looked swell too - passable coffee, clean floors and lots of toys. The performance itself was just plain weird. Weird, in itself, is not necessarily bad. Three performers - one of whom om-ed and played a child's xylophone, a shaker and a couple of big brass pots. The other two were silent and moved a lot - think backward rolls and bottom shuffling. Sometimes the adult audience laughed. The babies stared. I think they were thinking: "what are these wierdos up to". The only props were some egg rattles and some knitted blankets, which they sometimes nursed like a newborn, or threw up in the air, or climbed into bed with. It was weird. Madeleine stared a lot. And, as the other-mummy pointed out, none of the babies cried or had to leave. Were they having fun? Not discernibly, it has to be said. Certainly Miss M has seemed more excited by The Singing Kettle or Blitzy Boy. Actually, to be totally fair, she appeared a lot better entertained by my neighbour's preschoolers pretending to be lions the other day: RRROOOARRRR. I'm going to sit on the fence. I could be persuaded that whilst it raised no laughs, perhaps it is important to have your cultural boundaries pushed (even if you are only 9 months old). Certainly, it was an experience. Possibly not a delightful one - but an experience never-the-less. And to be fair, if the brief was to produce a performance of gentle movement and sound for young babies - which it was - I'm not sure you could come up with anything much better than this. So we've been. We're glad we saw it. It wasn't awful. Just don't make us go again!
