The Pacifica Quartet from Illinois have gained international stature as one of the finest chamber groups performing today. From their resident positions at the Universities of Chicago and Illinois and most recently at the Metropolitan Museum of New York (a position previously held for 43 years by the Guarneri Quartet) they travel to the major concert halls of the world to great acclaim. They have performed complete Shostakovich cycles in the last two seasons in New York and London, and include his second quartet in their New Town Concert.
