Clicket Blog Edinburgh Festivals Day 12, on clicket.co.uk

Welcome to the third week of August! With all the festivals including the Edinburgh International Festival and Edinburgh International Book Festival now in full swing

We know from some of our colleagues who are in the family way, how much more planning it must take for a family outing at the festivals - unlike some of us singletons who can just rock up whenever we wanted. Which is why Clicket has an itinerary builder that might come in handy. Do read our previous blog on a family of four who used My Clicket itinerary to help them plan their festival experience.

It is the ClicketKids mission to help you and your family open up a world of fun and get the most out of the festivals. So in today's blog, we recommend Family Friendly Literature, Art, Theatre events in August to help you in a small way towards planning great adventures in Edinburgh this August.

In the first of our ClicketKids presents video, we went on The Magnificent Edinburgh Escapade - an interactive game that took us on a problem solving hunt through the city centre - specially created for the Edinburgh Art Festival by The House of Fairy Tales. Have a look at the video and in the rest of our blog, we link those events we've recommended so it's easy for you to book, purchase or simply pop into your My Clicket itinerary builder!

Here's wishing you and your family, great adventures at events in Edinburgh this August!

  • Clicket Recommends... Literature for the Family

Make it a day out with your family at the Edinburgh International Book Festival's RBS Storybox Activities - the new children's activity space, open everyday from 11am to 4.30pm. Simply pop in to get involved in all sorts of hands-on activities.

Find the perfect book for your children with Dr Book at the Edinburgh International Book Festival!

If you find it hard to chose books that your kids will really enjoy, pay Dr Book a wee visit on 17 Aug. There are drop-in appointments at 10am or 2pm.

Tell Dr Book what you like reading and he’ll produce a prescription for some great books for you to try. You don’t need to book an appointment either, it’s a free drop-in service for all ages.

If you haven't already explored the exciting line-up of literary events at the Edinburgh International Book Festival for yourself and your family - why not click on this link for a full listing of the events.

  • Clicket Recommends... Art for the Family

The House of Fairy Tales (HoFT) have created an interactive guide to the city just for kids. It weaves together the history and geography of Edinburgh into a magical adventure that will take you on a problem solving tour through the city, and the Art Festival programme. There are maps and task sheets to help you on your way.

The HoFT Examiner (The Player by, and for, children of all ages) WANTS YOU!

Calling all budding trainee reporters - come and visit The HoFT Examiner Newsroom located White Stuff (89 George Street) and tell us Anything and Everything that you've found interesting at the festivals, in Edinburgh (really, whatever excites you), that you want others to know about.

    We want to hear it!
