The Institut Francais d'Ecosse in Edinburgh's West End exists to promote French culture and language within Scotland. This is done through a variety of language courses, hosted events such as film screenings, recitals, talks and theatre, and initiatives such as the French drama competition for primary schools.

Inverleith Park
Across the road from Edinburgh’s Royal Botanic Gardens is Inverleith Park, a wide grassy meadow which is popular with sports clubs, such as rugby, football and bowls. It’s also used for outdoor events: in the past, both Taste Festival and Treefest have been held here.

The hillside gardens surrounding Inveresk Lodge, just south of Musselburgh, are composed of a series of ‘garden rooms’, each with its own season and theme. Among the main features are a croquet court, a woodland walk, a Victorian conservatory, an aviary and a meadow pond.

Inverleith House
Inverleith House presents a continuous programme of temporary exhibitions by invited artists. They are presented on the ground and first floors of the Eighteenth Century mansion which is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and engaging galleries in Europe and was formerly the founding home of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art (from 1960 to 1984).
